Radiesse
If you want skin that is younger-looking and more vital, but don’t want to undergo costly and potentially risky surgery, treatment with Radiesse may be for you.
Calcium Hydroxyapatite (CaHa)
Calcium Hydroxyapatite (CaHA) is a ubiquitous substance found in all mammalian bones and teeth. Bone is made primarily of CaHA crystals interspersed in a collagen matrix. Hydroxyapatite deposits in tendons around joints results in the medical condition known as calcific tendinitis. For over 30 years synthetic CaHa has been used in bone grafts and dental implants. Hydroxyapatite is added to special toothpastes as an additive to prevent tooth decay.
What Is Radiesse?
Radiesse, a synthetic CaHA, is a biocompatible and semi-permanent gel filler. Once injected, the gel is slowly absorbed and collagen production is stimulated. Historically Radiesse has been used for HIV lipoatrophy and vocal cord dysfunction but was approved for cosmetic use in December 2006.
Radiesse is safe and effective and is one of the most popular treatments for patients who want to ward off signs of aging non-surgically. Radiesse is injected under the skin and begins its work immediately to decrease the appearance of facial wrinkles and volume loss that often emerge as we age.
Why Radiesse?
Radiesse is a long-acting filler, lasting from 12-18 months. Radiesse is safe and breaks down in your body naturally. Unlike other dermal fillers, such as hyaluronic acid, Radiesse stimulates the natural production of collagen

What Is Sculptra?
Sculptra is a safe and effective injectable treatment and relies on Poly-l-lactic acid to help patients look and feel younger. This acid is not harmful to the body and it’s biodegradable, so it breaks down naturally.
Our patients at Acute Care Surgical Perioperative Nurse Practitioners, Jessica M. White’s Cosmetic Surgery Practice report that Sculptra has improved their appearance, leaving them with a younger and rejuvenated look.
How does Scultea Work?
Acute Care Surgical ARNP, Jessica M. White, injects Sculptra beneath your skin’s surface, targeting areas that have seen a reduction in fat over the years. Sculptra regenerates your skin’s thickness, which leads to a more attractive and youthful appearance.
Sculptra is not meant to correct root causes of fat loss. It improves your appearance by boosting skin thickness in areas that you want to make more youthful looking. It helps boost production of collagen, which helps you increase your facial volume over time. Typically, more treatments are needed to treat deeper wrinkles and desired results.
One of Sculptra’s strengths is it is long lasting, helping your body produce collagen for up to two years. This collagen helps keep wrinkles and lines from forming.
All patients are dfferent , and some may need more than one treatment to gain the best results. The results vary based on the individual goals coming in for treatment.
At Surgical Perioperative ARNP, Jessica M. White, Cosmetic Surgery Practice, each patient will meet one-on-one with her to learn about their goals and help them develop a treatment plan that’s customized for them.
Are Ther Side Effects?
Some patients may suffer side effects after Sculptra treatment. These side effects may include the appearance of small bumps that form beneath the skin in areas that have been treated. These bumps typically fade away on their own and are invisible to patients and others. Patents can feel bumps under their skin.
Some other side effects can include:
Some minor pain at the injection site
Tenderness
Mild swelling
Most patients say these side effects are minimal and disappear within a few days.
You should have a healthy immune system to receive Sculptra treatments. You would not be a good canidate if:
You are allergic to Sculptra ingredients
You have a history of developing keloids
You have an active skin infection
Jessica M. White, Surgical ARNP reviews her patient’s medical histories with them in detail before proceeding with Sculptra treatments. She also will talk with you about medications you are on.
